To Saint John the Baptist

Precursor of the Saviour O Saint John the Baptist, illustrious forerunner of the Messiah, you whom the Saviour proclaimed the greatest among the children of men, and that Our Holy Father Pope Pius X… gave French Canadians as a special patron; you have prepared marvelously, by your austere, penitent, angelic life, the ways to the Reign of the Redeeming Lamb. We beseech you, deign to obtain for us the grace to walk in your glorious footsteps, to keep the faith of our fathers, to zealously defend the interests of the Holy Catholic Church, and to realize the purposes of Divine Providence on each of us, so that after the exile of this life, we may meet again in the Heavenly Fatherland, to sing the praises of the Eternal King of all peoples, for ever and ever. Amen.

O my God! Raise up Saints among Us!

O my God, raise up Saints among us; through them, may the Church triumph in the combat it wages against hell unleashed, and by the virtue of the Holy Spirit, establish the reign of Christ over all the earth, that the peace of heaven may abide there forever. Amen.

To Saint Joseph for the Needs of the Holy

Prayer of Leo XIII O Blessed Joseph, we have recourse to you in our tribulation and, having implored the help of your Most Holy Bride, we also confidently seek your patronage. In the name of the affection which united you to the Immaculate Virgin, Mother of God; in the name of the fatherly love with which you surrounded the Child Jesus, we beg you to look favourably on the inheritance acquired by Jesus Christ at the price of His blood, and to assist us with your power and help in our needs. O most vigilant guardian of the Holy Family, protect the privileged family of Jesus Christ; most loving Father, preserve us from all contagion of corruption and error; most powerful protector, assist us from Heaven in our struggle against the power of darkness. And, just as you once snatched the Infant Jesus from the peril of death, defend the Holy Church of God today from the snares of the enemy and from every adversity, and cover us all with your constant protection, so that we may, following your example and through your assistance, live holy, die piously and obtain eternal bliss in Heaven! Amen. O Saint Joseph, our guide, protect us! Protect the Holy Church!

To Our Lady of Fatima

to entrust all our needs to Her Our Lady of Fatima, Mother of God and of the Church, and the tender Mother of all mankind, we need You. Grant us the light that radiates from Your goodness, the comfort that emanates from Your Immaculate Heart, the charity and peace of which You are the Queen. Because You know well what we need, we entrust to You: our needs so that You may provide for them, our pains so that You may soothe them, and so that we may accept suffering as a mercy from God to purify us. We entrust to You our ills that You may heal them, our bodies that You may make them pure, our hearts that You may fill them with love and contrition, and our souls that through You they may be saved. Remember, O our good Mother, that Jesus grants You all that You ask of Him. Obtain relief for the souls in purgatory, healing for the sick, purity for the youth who do not know You, faith and harmony for families, peace for all men. Bring back those who have strayed from the path of Heaven, raise up many religious vocations; give holy priests to Christianity, protect the Holy Father, the bishops and the holy Church of Jesus Christ. O Blessed Virgin Mary, hear us and have mercy on us. Turn Your merciful eyes to us. And after this exile, show us Jesus, the blessed fruit of Your womb, O merciful, O charitable, O sweet and tender Virgin Mary. Amen.

To the Holy Spirit for the Church

Universal Prayer

Pour out, Lord, Your blessings on the Father of Christianity, on my parents, my benefactors, my friends, and my enemies. Protect all those whom You have given me as masters, both spiritual and temporal. Help the poor, the prisoners, the afflicted, the travelers, the sick and the dying. Convert the heretics and enlighten the infidels. God of goodness and mercy, have pity also on the souls of the faithful who are in Purgatory. Put an end to their sufferings, and give to those for whom I am obliged to pray, rest and eternal light. Amen.

For the Good Shepherd of the Church

Lord Jesus, who are one God with the Father and the Holy Spirit; who are the only and invisible Head of the Church; who, among Your apostles, chose Saint Peter to be the unique Shepherd of Your sheep, and who wished to have as His sole Vicar on earth the Pontiff of Your Church, to whom every Christian must turn with submission and love; I beg You, Lord, to protect our beloved Pontiff, to defend him against his enemies, to fill him with Your graces and to keep him to Your Church. May he lead us, O my God, may we follow him in the way of true religion; and may the weak merits of our faith receive, thanks to him, a happy increase every day; so that, like faithful sheep, we may arrive happily at the heavenly fold of our first Shepherd. Amen.

For the Father of Christianity

O Jesus! Invisible Head of the Holy Church, preserve and lead the one You have given as its visible head on earth; fill him with the fullness of Your Spirit, so that he may wisely steer Peter’s restless boat in the midst of the reefs that surround him on all sides. Fulfill the desires of his heart, and may powerful grace assist all the intentions of his faith. May this faith, firm and unshakeable in Your divine promises, lighten for him the burden of so many solicitude, and soften the bitterness with which he is steeped by the ingratitude of many of his children. Let the truth, O my God, of which the Church is the guardian, and which cannot perish, finally dispel all errors; let it enlighten the conscience of kings and peoples, so that, according to Your word, “there may be one flock and one shepherd”. O You, O Mary, Immaculate Virgin, Mother and Sovereign of the Church, bestow upon the venerable Pontiff who governs it in these difficult times, the most distinguished favors, and, as a reward for his ardent zeal to spread Your worship and to multiply the tributes paid to You throughout the world, obtain from Your divine Son the grace most dear to his heart: the sanctification of faithful souls and the return of lost sheep. Amen.
