What does a mother do? There is nothing new about the Blessed Virgin playing the role of Mediatrix of all grace with souls, nor being the instrument of God to sanctify and guide them. Perhaps we think this is a novelty, but in reality, Mary has always exercised this role, even on behalf of those who are unaware of it. The book called The Mystical City of God 4 goes so far as to say, “If the Heavenly Mother had not intervened between Christ and the human race, the world would never have come into the possession of the Gospel, nor ever merited to experience any of its effects.”5 This clearly shows how much we are beholden to the Mother of God who has interceded on behalf of humanity, and therefore on behalf of each one of us even before we were born and without our even having recourse to Her.
