Magnificat January 2024

30 Vol. LIX, No. 1 Magnificat This man of faith endured these bereavements with edifying resignation and complete submission to the divine will, despite the bitterness of his deeply felt ordeal. How he longed to join them for the eternal rendezvous! At the age of eighty-two, increasingly undermined by illness, he knew that his time could not be long in coming. Yet he would have to wait another six and a half years for his turn to depart from this valley of tears. From then on, his youngest daughter looked after her worthy father, assisting him in all his needs. But Mr. Bugajski would not stop working. Until the last week of his life, with increasing difficulty, he continued going to his repair shop almost every day, fixing this or that brokendown appliance. On occasion, he would drive other patients to doctors’ appointments. At the end of December 2020, the hour of deliverance dawned. On January 4, 2021, in full lucidity, our cherished elder received the Sacrament of the Sick and a blessing in articulo mortis. The following day, January 5, shortly after receiving his last Communion as viaticum, he passed away very peacefully, without any agony. Harry Bugajski had lived happily in the Community. He used to say, “If only the poor world knew the joy of serving God!” He was fond of quoting this verse from the Psalms: Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people He hath chosen for His inheritance.6 6. Psalm 32:12. Mr. and Mrs. Bugajski with their six children, all religious: their pride and joy! The skillful Mr. Bugajski at work in his shop. September 29, 2012 – Mr. Bugajski pledges his allegiance to Gregory XVIII. From the moment he met him, this faithful Disciple gave his unconditional support, first to Gregory XVII, then to his successor.
