Petitions of our heavenly Mother – For over one hundred and fifty years, the Virgin Mary has been calling Her children of the earth to conversion. She has been asking for prayer and penance, entreating us with Her tears: “My Son’s hand is so heavy and so oppressive that I can no longer hold it back,” because of the sins of men. (Our Lady of La Salette)
Fatima 1916 – The Angel of Peace – Kneeling and prostrating himself with his forehead to the ground, the Angel taught the children this prayer: “My God, I believe, I adore, I hope, and I love You! I beg pardon for those who do not believe, do not adore, do not hope and do not love You!” One day he brought them Holy Communion.
Vision of 1929 – In her convent chapel, Lucy, the seeress of Fatima, had an impressive vision (illustrated in the center). The Virgin said to her, “The moment has come when God is asking the Holy Father to make, in union with all the bishops of the world, the consecration of Russia to My Immaculate Heart, promising to save it by this means.” This consecration was not fully accomplished.
The three shepherd children, Lucy (age 10), Francisco (age 9) and Jacinta (age 7) – Faithful to their mothers’ recommendation, each day they said their rosary, for the terrible war was raging. Older brothers and cousins were in danger on the front in France; the wounded were returning crippled for life, and many families were in mourning.
First Apparition, May 13, 1917 – “I wish you to come here for six months on the thirteenth of each month… Do you want to offer yourselves to God to make sacrifices and willingly accept all the sufferings He desires to send you, as an act of reparation for the sins by which His Divine Majesty is offended?” – “Yes, we do.”
June 13, 1917 – That day, Our Lady said She would soon come to take Jacinta and Francisco and bring them with Her to paradise. As for Lucy: “You must remain herfor some time more. Jesus wants to make use of you to have Me known and loved. I will never forsake you. My Immaculate Heart will be your refuge.”
July 13, 1917 – Our Lady gave the Secret which the Church had the mission to reveal to the world in 1960. Then, with rays shining from Her hands, She opened up the earth and showed hell to the children. Lucy said, “It was a sight that lasted only a moment. I think that we would have died of fright if the Virgin has not promised us in advance that She would take us to paradise.”
August 13, 1917 – On that day, and for three days, the seers were in prison, harassed and threatened with death by the civil administrator, who wanted to put an end to this story. On August 19, the Beautiful Lady came to comfort them and exhort them once more to pray and make sacrifices. “But because of the bad faith of the wicked, the miracle announced for October will be less striking.”
September 13, 1917 – More than 30,000 people massed at the site said the rosary and sang hymns. “Here She comes!” cried Lucy. A luminous globe seen by the crowd was advancing slowly and majestically. The apparition lasted around ten minutes; during that time, a shower of white flowers fell from the sky, vanishing before touching the ground.
October 13, 1917, the great miracle of the sun – 70,000 people witnessed the extraordinary and terrifying miracle promised by the Virgin. “Men must amend their lives, and ask pardon for their sins. Let them stop offending My Divine Son, who is already too much offended.” Those were the last words of Our Lady.
Blessed Francisco and Jacinta of Fatima – The Beautiful Lady from Heaven had promised them that they would soon be in paradise. After the apparitions, their life was one of love for Jesus and Mary, of immolation for the conversion of sinners. They came down with the Spanish flu in 1918: Francisco died on April 4, 1919 and innocent little Jacinta on February 20, 1920.
The last word on Fatima – Thousands of people have responded to the Virgin’s Message. On the other hand, the Church has not obeyed all the wishes of Our Lady. 1960 came and went, and the Third Secret, which “concerns only the Pope and the Church,” was never revealed… The Order of the Magnificat is at the heart of this Secret and linked to the triumph of the Immaculate Heart.
