Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with thy whole heart, and with thy whole soul, and with thy whole mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment. And the second is like to this: Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments depends the whole law and the prophets.
We give you as our watchword this year, PRAYER, that God may manifest Himself and make His voice heard.
Jesus said to Sister Consolata Betrone: “The world is going to its perdition, but I love souls, I want to save them. I am constrained to be severe in order to attain My end; but believe Me, I do it out of pure mercy. If I permit so much sorrow, it is for that one purpose, to save souls for eternity.”
“You acquired much glory at the siege of Pamplona and you pass today for one of the most illustrious warriors of Spain. Do not destroy your reputation, do not dishonor your family by a folly unworthy of you…”
“Go, replied the bishop, and continue to do what you are doing. For it is impossible that a son, wept over with so many tears, should ever perish.” This word restored confidence to the poor mother, who welcomed it as if it had come from the mouth of God Himself.
The Saint replied, “I think that the one of whom you complain has made more progress in virtue in a few months, than this other one, whom you praise so much, has made in a year.”
“Where were You, O my divine Spouse, she said, when I saw myself in such a terrible situation? – I was with you, answered Our Lord.”
