October, the Month of Mary in Autumn

Dear readers,

During this Month of Mary in Autumn, let us revive our fervor by the pious recitation of the Holy Rosary. Saint Louis Mary de Montfort briefly explains what this salutary practice consists in:

“The Rosary is made up of two things: mental prayer and vocal prayer. In the Rosary, mental prayer is none other than meditation of the chief mysteries of the life, death and glory of Jesus Christ and of His Blessed Mother. Vocal prayer in the Rosary consists in saying fifteen decades of the Hail Mary, each decade headed by an Our Father, while at the same time meditating on and contemplating the fifteen principal virtues that Jesus and Mary practiced in the fifteen mysteries of the Holy Rosary.”(1)

Let us recall what Sister Lucy, the seeress of Fatima, says concerning it: “Ever since the Blessed Virgin gave such great efficacy to the Rosary, there is no problem – material, spiritual, national or international – that cannot be resolved by the Holy Rosary and by our sacrifices. Reciting it with love and piety will give comfort to Mary and wipe away the many tears of Her Immaculate Heart.”(2)

In the last few years there has been a reawakening among many Christians. It is very edifying and encouraging to see groups of prayer multiplying here and there throughout the world. May God bless by a hundredfold the dedication of the organizers of these manifestations of faith and devotion, as well as all those who respond to their invitations. Let us unite our prayers to those of the pious souls who recite the Rosary in this beautiful month of October and throughout the year. Thus we will form an immense bouquet of fragrant roses to offer our good heavenly Mother.

May we not lower our arms before the invasive waves of Evil. Following the example of Moses interceding for the Chosen People, may we keep our voices and our hearts lifted up to God. Let us pray especially for the Holy Church of Jesus Christ, which is going through an era of incredible confusion.

We will conclude with this thought of Saint Teresa of Avila: “The Rosary is a totally divine devotion, a wellspring of grace, a chain that unites earth to Heaven, a rainbow of peace in the firmament of the Church.

At His hour, God will crown our humble efforts to pray fervently to Mary, Mother of God and our Mother, Mediatrix of all Grace.

Union of prayers! The Apostles of Infinite Love
