It is the duty of every Christian to offer prayers and suffrages for the eternal rest of the souls of those who have died.

Out of the depths I have cried to Thee O Lord!
Lord, hear my voice. Let Thine ears be attentive to the voice of my supplication.
If Thou, O Lord! wilt mark iniquities: Lord, who shall stand it? For with Thee there is mercy: and by reason of Thy law I have waited on Thee, O Lord!
My soul hath relied on His word: my soul hath hoped in the Lord. From the morning watch even until night: let Israel hope in the Lord. For with the Lord there is mercy; and with Him plentiful Redemption. And He will redeem Israel from all his iniquities.
V/ Eternal rest give unto them, O Lord!
R/ And let perpetual light shine upon them.
V/ May they rest in peace.
R/ Amen.
V/ Lord, hear my prayer.
R/ And let my cry come unto Thee.
V/ The Lord be with you.
R/ And with your spirit.
Let us pray: O God, Creator and Redeemer of all the faithful, grant the souls of Your servants the remission of all their sins, that they may obtain, through our humble prayers, the forgiveness they have always expected from Your mercy. You being God, who liveth and reigneth with God the Father, in the unity of the Holy Ghost for ever and ever. Amen.
