A story for every day...
Five kilos of butter.
A farmer went to town every day to supply a baker with butter. Every day he brought him five kilos of butter and each time he brought back five kilos of bread. One day the baker weighed the butter. He was astonished when he found that half a kilo was missing. He immediately asked the farmer to account for it. But without being disconcerted, the farmer answered: “Sir, I can’t help it. I have no weight at home. Until now, I have managed to get by by putting on one side of the scale the 5 kilos of bread that I bought from you and on the other side I put the equivalent of butter.” The baker was ashamed of his behavior, and since then has been giving his customer his due.
God will behave towards us like this peasant at the last judgment; for Jesus Christ said, “The same measure will be used for you as you used for others.” (S. Luke 6, 38)
