The different luminous bodies.
There are various kinds: candles, oil, gas, electric light; but all are surpassed by the sun. It gives light, heat and life at the same time; it makes trees and plants bud and bear flowers and fruit. Just as the light of the sun surpasses all others in energy, so religion surpasses all other knowledge, reading, writing, arithmetic, etc. These do not provide the human being with the knowledge that he needs. These only provide man with earthly benefits, this one with benefits for eternal life.
– It is therefore a profound error to pretend that religion is an individual matter or an accessory thing. On the contrary, it is the only essential thing for man.
– Religion enlightens our intelligence, because it gives precise answers to all the problems of life.
