No soul, no reason.
In one society the existence of the soul was discussed. “You don’t have a soul”, said one of the speakers to his neighbor. – Why do you say that? – Because I don’t see it,” said the other. “Then you don’t have a reason either,” replied his neighbor. “How!” said our man indignantly. “Because I have never seen your reason,” replied the other, smiling.
Why is man superior to the beast?
A schoolmaster asked this question to his children, who gave various answers. One pupil answered: “Because man is more intelligent than the beast”; another: “Because man can speak”; a third: “Because man can read, write and calculate”. Finally a child says: “Because man can know God and love Him”.
Man’s greatest privilege is to possess a soul that resembles the Godhead and through which he can know and love God.
