For the Preservation of the Deposit of the Faith!
For the Kingdom of God to come!
It is said that a holy soul, ablaze with the love of God and the desire for His glory, often cried out:
“Ah, my God, my God, how I would like to have as many hearts and as many tongues, as there are leaves on the trees, atoms in the air, drops of water in the great seas, to love and praise You as much as You deserve! Oh, that I had in my power all the creatures to lay them at Your feet, so that all of them would be consumed with love for You, provided that I myself love You more than all of them together, more even than the angels, more than the saints, more than the whole of Paradise!” One day when she was giving herself up to these holy transports with the greatest ardor, she heard the Lord answer her, “Be comforted, My daughter; by a single mass which you will hear with devotion, you will give Me all the glory you desire, and infinitely more.” Perhaps you are surprised at this proposal? You are wrong. Indeed, our divine Savior being not only man, but true and almighty God, when He deigns to lower Himself on the altar, He renders to the adorable Trinity, by this divine abasement, a never-ending glory, an infinite honor; and consequently, we who concur with Him in the august sacrifice, we also contribute to render to God, through His mediation, tributes and a glory of infinite price.
