For the Preservation of the Deposit of the Faith
For the Kingdom of God to come!
One day, when he had gone to the old palace of the Inquisition to collect alms, saint John of God was passing through a courtyard near a fountain, when a young servant, pretending not to notice him, pushed him so hard that he knocked him into the water. For this type of people, on seeing the Saint, always treated him as a madman. As for him, he got out of the pool, and recovered as best he could, without complaining, without giving the slightest sign of emotion, having on the contrary a joyful air, grateful even to this boy. He continued his rounds as if nothing had happened to him; this surprised all those who saw him, and inspired the greatest respect for his person.
