We read in the annual letters of the Society of Jesus, that in India a young man, leaving his room to go and commit a sin, heard a voice crying out to him, “Stop! Where are you going?” He turned and his eyes were fixed on a statue of Our Lady of Sorrows who was standing there and who, drawing the sword plunged in Her bosom, presented it to him saying, “Take this sword, and pierce Me rather than wound My Son by this sin.” At these words, the young man, all contrite and bursting into tears, prostrated himself on the ground, asked God and the Blessed Virgin for forgiveness of his fault and obtained it.
