A story for every day...

Our Lady of the Rosary

How to Find Faith

A man who was very honorable according to the world, but unfortunately a stranger to all religious belief, was one day in a meeting of clergymen. In the course of the conversation, this man had occasion to say, “I would like to have faith, but I do not believe, I cannot believe.” One of the priests who were present, contented himself with answering him these simple words, “Well! say the rosary.” Then the conversation moved on to another subject.

Three years later, the priest of whom I have just spoken received a letter which read as follows: “Do you remember, Father, that three years ago, in the midst of a society of ecclesiastics of which you were a member, I said that I did not believe, while at the same time expressing the regret of not having faith. On this you answered me: ‘Well! say the rosary.’ These words: ‘Say the rosary’, which at first seemed so strange to me, remained constantly present in my memory. I was obsessed by them. Little by little I became accustomed to hearing them resound in my heart. They finally seemed sweet and good to me: I said the rosary. Today I believe, I am happy and I practice with happiness the duties of religion. It is to Mary that I owe my conversion.”
