The adorable Heart of Jesus is an abyss of grace where we find everything. It is an abyss of love in which we must submerge all other love, but primarily our self-love with all its evil productions: human respect, the desire to elevate ourselves and to satisfy ourselves. It is by immersing our erratic and imperfect inclinations in the abyss and in the ocean of divine love that we will find all the riches and all the spiritual help that we need in all our situations.
If we are in an abyss of deprivation and desolation, this divine Heart is the abyss of all consolation, in which we must lose ourselves, without even desiring to taste its sweetness.
If we are in an abyss of dryness and powerlessness, let us go and plunge ourselves into the Heart of Jesus, which is an abyss of power and love, He will inspire us with courage and confidence.
When we are in an abyss of fear and anxiety for our salvation, the divine Heart of Jesus is an abyss of trust and love: let us abandon ourselves to Him, He will teach us that fear must yield to love.
If we are in an abyss of poverty and devoid of all goods, let us abide in this Sacred Heart filled with treasures; He will enrich us with His gifts and graces.
If we are in an abyss of weakness, of relapses and miseries, let us go to this adorable Heart, He is an abyss of mercy and strength, He will raise us up, He will strengthen us.
If we recognize in ourselves an abyss of pride and vain self-esteem, let us submerge ourselves promptly in the profound annihilations of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ; for this sovereignly humble Heart is the abyss of humility: He will communicate this divine virtue to us.
If we find ourselves in an abyss of ignorance and darkness, the Sacred Heart of Jesus is an abyss of knowledge and light. Let us learn above all to love Him and to do only what He desires of us.
If we are in an abyss of infidelity and inconstancy, the Heart of Jesus is an abyss of constancy and fidelity: let us go there and we will find a love that is constant in loving us and doing us good.
If we find ourselves as if we were immersed in death, let us go to the Heart of Jesus, we will find there an abyss of life where we will draw a new life of grace and love, to speak only by His impression, to think and estimate only by His light, and to love only by His love.
If we find ourselves in an abyss of ingratitude, the Heart of Jesus is an abyss of gratitude; let us draw from it what we can offer to God for all the good things we have received from Him, and let us pray to this divine Mediator to make up for us from His abundance.
If we find ourselves in an abyss of agitation, impatience, anger, bad temper, let us go to the Heart of Jesus, which is an abyss of meekness, patience and moderation; He will put peace and serenity in our soul.
If we are in an abyss of dissipation and distraction, we will find in the Heart of Jesus an abyss of recollection and fervor which will make up for everything, which will anchor our heart and our imagination by uniting us infinitely to Him.
If we find ourselves plunged into an abyss of sadness, let us engulf the sadness itself in the Sacred Heart of Jesus, which is an abyss of heavenly and divine joy. It is the treasure of all the delights of the Angels and Saints.
If we find ourselves in trouble and anxiety, this divine Heart is an abyss of peace, and this peace will be communicated to us.
When we are in an abyss of bitterness and suffering, let us unite them to the abyss of suffering and anguish of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. From Him we will learn to suffer well and to be content in our sorrows.
Finally, in everything and through everything, let us be absorbed in this ocean of mercy, charity and love, and, if possible, let us never leave it again; let us allow ourselves to be set ablaze and penetrated by the divine fire with which this Sacred Heart is set ablaze for God His Father and for mankind; let us be in it like a child in the bosom of the most tender Mother, and like a sponge immersed in the sea and completely permeated by its waters.
What the Sacred Heart of Jesus asks above all of His souls is purity of intention, meekness, humility and charity in action, and unity in the desire of the greatest glory of God, by loving Him and making Him loved more and more.
Practice. – Consecrate your life, with all the trials it will bring, to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, in a spirit of reparation for all the outrages with which He is afflicted.
