Our Lady of the Rosary

Let Us Pray the Rosary

Short Meditations

  • We start by making piously the Sign of the Cross, which is the Sign of the Christian:

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, and of the Mother of God. Amen.

  • Offering of the Rosary

O Mary, You are for all men the Mother of Mercy, You are the sure refuge of sinners; offer to Your divine Son Jesus this Rosary that I am going to pray in Your company, for the conversion of poor sinful souls.  Pray especially for the most hard-hearted, for the persecutors of the Church and of the Vicar of Christ; for those who are blinded by the world, by riches and pleasures.

What joy will fill Your Heart, dear Mother, when You see these poor souls returning to God! The exultation that You felt when You found Your Son, after losing Him for three days, will be renewed when You receive in Your arms these other children, whose loss You are now mourning.

I commend to You in a very special way the sinners of my family; and remember, O good Mother, that my soul is of all, the most miserable and worthy of pity.

O my Sovereign, O my Mother, I give myself to You: keep me always!

  • The Symbol of the Apostles

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; He descended into hell; the third day He arose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, sitteth at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty, from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Ghost, the Holy Church of Jesus Christ, the Communion of Saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

  • One Our Father (Prayer taught by Jesus Christ to His Apostles)

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

  • Three Hail Mary's (Angelical Salutation)

Hail, Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with Thee; blessed art Thou among women, and blessed is Thy Son, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God and our Mother, pray for us, sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

  • One Glory Be to the Father

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost, and to the Mother of God. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Joyful Mysteries – Let us Pray for the conversion of sinners.

First Mystery: The Annunciation of the Archangel Gabriel to the Virgin Mary

Fruit of the mystery: humility and loving acceptance of the Will of God.

Annonciation de l'Archange Gabriel à la Vierge Marie Imagine the Archangel Gabriel greeting Mary, and the Son of God becoming incarnate in this Virgin, the purest of virgins. O Mary, who by Your humility deserved to be the Mother of God, obtain for me the grace to be humble like You.

We recite one Our Father.

Amen.

We recite ten Hail Mary's.

Second Mystery: The Visitation of Mary to Her Cousin Elizabeth

Fruit of the mystery: To love our neighbor more than ourselves.

Visitation de la Vierge Marie à Sa cousine Élisabeth

Third Mystery: The Birth of Jesus in the stable of Bethlehem

Fruit of the mystery: the spirit of detachment from earthly things.

The Nativity of Jesus in Bethlehem

Consider in the stable of Bethlehem the Master of the world lying in a manger. What misery! He is covered with poor swaddling clothes, having only a bit of straw to rest His head.

O Mary, obtain for us detachment from the earthly goods, and make us love poverty.

We recite one Our Father.

Amen.

We recite ten Hail Mary's.

Hail, Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with Thee; blessed art Thou among women, and blessed is Thy Son, Jesus.

Fourth Mystery: The Presentation of Jesus in the Temple

Fruit of the mystery: Prompt and complete obedience.

Presentation of Jesus in the Temple

Forty days after the birth of Jesus, Mary presents Him in the temple and submits to the ceremony of purification, for which She has no need. She does it to obey the Will of God expressed in the Law.

O Mary, I would rather die a thousand times than separate myself from the obedience due to the Vicar of Jesus Christ.

We recite one Our Father.

Amen.

We recite ten Hail Mary's.

Hail, Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with Thee; blessed art Thou among women, and blessed is Thy Son, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God and our Mother, pray for us, sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

We recite one Glory be to the Father.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost, and to the Mother of God.
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

At Fatima, Our Lady requested that we recite the following Prayer after each decade:

O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, and lead all souls to heaven, especially those who are in the most need of Thy Mercy.

Fifth Mystery: The Loss and Recovery of Jesus in the Temple

Fruit of the mystery: the search for God’s good pleasure in each of our actions.

The Finding of Jesus in the Temple

Consider the eagerness of Mary and Joseph in searching for Jesus in Jerusalem.

O Mary, if I should ever have the misfortune to lose Jesus, let me seek Him with the same loving anxiety that was Yours when Your dear Son was gone from Your presence.

We recite one Our Father.

Hail, Holy Queen!

Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy. our life, our sweetness and our hope! To Thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To Thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears! Turn, then, O most gracious Advocate, Thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this, our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of Thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.

  • Pray for us, O holy Mother of God,
  • That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Let us Pray. O God, whose only-begotten Son, by His life, death and resurrection, has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life, grant, we beseech Thee, that meditating on these mysteries of the most holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we may imitate what they contain, and obtain what they promise, through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.

In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, and of the Mother of God. Amen.

Share these prayers with those who are dear to you.
