For the preservation of the Deposit of Faith.

For the Kingdom of God to come!

MAGNIFICAT

The Order of the Magnificat of the Mother of God has a special purpose the preservation of the Deposit of Faith through religious education in all its forms. God has established him as a bulwark against the almost general apostasy which has invaded Christendom and in particular the Roman Church.

4th Sunday after Epiphany – Jesus calms the storm

Jésus apaise la tempête
The disciples came to Jesus, and awaked Him, saying: Lord! save us, we perish. And Jesus said to them: Why are you fearful, O ye of little faith?...

Introit

The Lord said: I think thoughts of peace, and not of affliction: ye shall call upon Me, and I will hear you: and I will bring back your captive people from all places. Psalm. Thou, O Lord, hast blessed Thy land: Thou hast brought back the captive children of Jacob. Glory be to the Father…

Collect

O God, who knowest that, through human frailty, we are not able to subsist amidst such great dangers; grant us health of soul and body; that, whatsoever things we suffer because of our sins, we may conquer them, by Thine assistance. Through Christ Our Lord.

Epistle

Lesson of the Epistle of St. Paul the Apostle to the Romans, Chapter 13.

Brethren: Owe no man anything, but to love one another: for he that loves his neighbour, has fulfilled the law. For, thou shalt not commit adultery: Thou shalt not kill: Thou shalt not steal: Thou shalt not bear false witness: Thou shalt not covet: and, if there be any other commandment, it is comprised in this word: Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. The love of our neighbour works no evil. Love, therefore, is the fulfilling of the law.

Gradual

Thou hast saved us, O Lord, from them that afflict us; and hast put them to shame that hate us. In God shall we glory all the day long; and, in Thy name, we will give praise for ever. Alleluia, alleluia. Out of the depths I have cried unto Thee, O Lord: Lord, hear my prayer. Alleluia.

Gospel

Sequel of the holy Gospel according to Matthew, Chapter 8.

At that time: When Jesus entered into the boat, His disciples followed Him. And behold a great tempest arose in the sea, so that the boat was covered with waves; but He was asleep. And His disciples came to Him, and awaked Him, saying: Lord! save us, we perish. And Jesus said to them: Why are you fearful, O ye of little faith? Then rising up, He commanded the winds and the sea, and there came a great calm. But the men wondered, saying: What manner of man is this? for the winds and the sea obey Him!

Offertory

Out of the depths I have cried unto Thee, O Lord: Lord, hear my prayer: out of the depths I have cried unto Thee, O Lord.

Secret

Grant, we beseech Thee, O almighty God, that the offering of this sacrifice may always cleanse our frailty from all evil, and be a protection to us. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Communion

Amen I say unto you; all things whatsoever ye ask for when ye pray, believe that ye shall receive, and it shall be done unto you.

Postcommunion

May Thy gifts, which we have partaken of, O God, detach us from all earthly pleasures, and ever refresh and strengthen us with heavenly food. Save us, O Lord, we perish: command, O God, and make the sea calm.

Let us Pray

O God, who knowest that, through human frailty, we are not able to subsist amidst such great dangers; grant us health of soul and body; that, whatsoever things we suffer because of our sins, we may conquer them, by Thine assistance. Through Christ our Lord.

Litany to Our Lady of Lourdes

In all our needs, let us implore our good Mother in Heaven, who every day works wonders of grace in the blessed place of Lourdes, where She manifests Her Love for us in a special way.

Sign of the Cross

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, and of the Mother of God. Amen.

Preparatory Prayer

O Jesus! We are going to walk with You on the road to Calvary which was so painful for You. Make us understand the greatness of Your sufferings, touch our hearts with tender compassion at the sight of Your torments, in order to increase in us the regret of our faults and the love we wish to have for You.
Deign to apply to all of us the infinite merits of Your Passion, and in memory of Your sorrows, show mercy to the souls in Purgatory, especially to those who are most abandoned.
O Divine Mary, who first taught us to make the Way of the Cross, obtain for us the grace to follow Jesus with the sentiments Your Heart was filled with as You accompanied Him on the road to Calvary. Grant that we may weep with You, and that we may love Your divine Son as You do. We ask this in the name of His adorable Heart. Amen.
